Part Two: Disillusion

Written and created by Jamie Bonilla, this poem was inspired by part two of the book and the audio drama.

The Lord said “Come” and we came — had to come

It was a long story

But now, I have seen enough of the musts

The curtain of thou shalts

In place of love

The group enforcing behavior patterns

Dear selves crushed

Under the burden of a thousand duties

Performing a dulled faith

In fear of a broken self

Dissatisfied with the old barred doors

We found a hunger for more:

To keep coming alive

Even in the dark, heavy days
